8093 If you are planning on getting any Amaryllis for Holiday decorating, you should order them now. They take about 6 weeks to bloom. After the first week of November, it may be too late to have your Amaryllis holiday display bloom through the holiday season. After they bloom they should continue flowering for another seven to ten weeks.

Your Amaryllis needs to be in a warm place with direct light–the bulb needs heat (at least room temperature) to initiate stem growth. Water very lightly until the the stems start to appear, gradually increasing amounts as the plant grows. If you water too much before the roots are established, that excess moisture will collect in the soil, possible causing your bulbs to rot. The plant should now start to grow very quickly, blooming in just a few days.
