I told you I was going to buy a Park Seed Bio-Dome, and I did, the 40 cell unit. I'm starting my seeds today. I think I'm going try to keep a little photo diary of my seedling babies to share with all of you. It is supposed to be the easiest way to start seeds indoors. I planted 20 sweet pepper seeds and 20 Big Beef tomato seeds that I bought right here in Park Seed's Garden Center.
I've done some digging for info because this is my first time using the Bio-Dome. I am going to attempt to impart as much of that knowledge to you as possible with out making a mess of it. It will be easier if I just give you a short description and a link instead of trying to summarize it all.
Here is a recent Bio-Dome Newsletter many of you may have already gotten if you receive Park Seed's Free Email Newsletter. There are plenty of suggestions for various Bio-Dome Products, accessories, and seeds. There is a short explanation of how to harden off your seedlings into your garden by first sitting the covered Bio-Dome in your garden for a couple days before removing the cover and planting your babies.
This one is a 2005 Park's Garden's Newsletter about the Bio-Dome from Karen Park Jennings herself. She briefly walks us through the whole Bio-Dome process from sowing to transplant. There are also plenty of suggested extras for ensuring a fruitful gardening experience. All the links still seem to work.
Park Seed -Seed Starting is a page full of information on everything Park Seed has to offer for starting your seeds. There is a ton of information on using your Bio-Dome and just about everything else.
While rummaging, I also found this, Park Seed's senior staff horticulturist, one of the guys who helps me with the Park Seed Blog Question of the Day! You may have seen him in the catalogs before- he told us that they thought he made a good “Grandfather.”
