Lily ‘Silk Road‘.
People stood on tiptoe to gaze up into these beautiful, fragrant blooms.  Clusters of ‘Silk Road‘ easily reached 7 feet high, planted in groups throughout Park’s Trial Gardens at this year’s Flower Day 2006.  Secondary buds "travel" down the stems, extending the season of bloom by several weeks.

A single bloom of this magnificent new creation perfumes the entire home or garden, yet each stalk bears enormous flowerheads with new buds that open when the old flowers pass! Such a show of color and fragrance is almost an embarrassment of riches — and certainly was one of the hottest items in Park’s Trial Gardens this year!

More from the ParkSeed.com website:
‘Silk Road’ is an Orienpet Lily, a new type of hybrid that is the lifework of breeder Judith Freeman. Orienpets combine the best characteristics of Oriental and Trumpet Lilies, giving you massive flowers and plenty of them, with strong, vibrant colors, substantial petal texture, and — most of all — fragrance. If you judge a garden by the allure of its scent, this Lily will quickly become your crowning glory. It’s no exaggeration to say that it’s the most fragrant in the world, with a sweet, spicy, pervasive aroma most people will find irresistible.
